Instrumental Music

The Instrumental Music Department at Conestoga High School has a rich history, dating back to the founding of the school in 1954. Today we offer no less than seven instrumental ensembles, with a current student enrollment of more than 600 students each year.

Concert Band and Wind Ensemble

Conestoga offers two bands for student participation. Concert Band is non-auditioned, and is open to all students who play a band instrument. Wind Ensemble is the highly select auditioned ensemble, performing at various concerts throughout the year, as well as annual Conestoga Commencement.

Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble

The two jazz groups at the high school, Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble, are open to all students who play a jazz instrument. Both groups are auditioned, and play a variety of styles including big band classics, modern jazz, Latin, and funk.

Symphony Orchestra and String Ensemble

String players at Conestoga can participate in either the String Ensemble or Symphony Orchestra. The String Ensemble is non-auditioned, and is open to all violin, viola, cello, or bass players. The Symphony Orchestra is Conestoga's premier, auditioned, fully symphonic orchestra. Both groups perform together at the annual winter and spring concerts.

Percussion Ensemble

Made up of students in all grades, the Percussion Ensemble performs at the Spring Concert each year. The group practices and performs a diverse array of repertoire, including mallets, marching percussion, African drumming, and contemporary styles.
